Leading market positions

As a high-tech company, we focus on high-quality, system-critical elastomer components and hold leading positions in areas such as Healthcare, Transportation & Electronics, General Industry and Food & Beverage. The markets we serve with our solutions are characterized by long-term growth drivers and very high entry barriers due to demanding regulatory requirements, long-standing customer relations, high product quality and long learning curves.

Growth drivers include, for example, demographic change, the growing middle class in emerging markets and the increase in chronic diseases, but also electrification, connectivity, Internet-of-Things and Industry 4.0. Among other things, Datwyler components in billions of syringes and in every second car around the world make an important contribution to patient and driver safety under demanding conditions. In addition, our components and materials for electric vehicles support the transformation to e-mobility and the achievement of climate targets.

Strategic development partner

We materialize ideas for a safer, smarter and more sustainable world. With clearly defined sustainability focus areas and specific measures, Datwyler lives up to its social and environmental responsibility. The central basis for all markets served and all products is provided by our core competencies, which are recognized by global customers: solution design, material expertise and product industrialization.

The unique combination of these core competencies enables Datwyler as a strategic development partner to accompany existing and new customers from the design study through the prototype phase to global series production and to generate added value.

Longstanding customer relationships

Our elastomer components make a significant contribution to the functionality and quality of customer systems, while at the same time contributing very little to the total cost of these systems. Decades of close customer relationships and long-standing customer system platforms result in recurring and growing revenues with leading pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, connector manufacturers, mobility companies, capsule coffee suppliers and many other renowned companies.

With sales in more than 100 countries and over 7’500 employees, Datwyler generates annual revenue of more than CHF 1’100 million. More than two-thirds of revenue comes from low cyclical and long-term growth markets and technologies such as healthcare, food & beverage, automation and electrification.

Global production footprint

With 25 plants on four continents, Datwyler has a global production footprint with own elastomer mixing plants and mould shops. For us, a global strategic approach with a local/regional presence is a key success factor. Our manufacturing set-up guarantees identical quality standards on a global level while providing local-for-local manufacturing capacities and technical support. This enables us to meet our customers’ needs for flexible and reliable supply chains in order to ensure business continuity.

In recent years, Datwyler has implemented a comprehensive investment program to expand production capacity and integrated value-enhancing acquisitions. Headquartered in Switzerland, the company looks back on more than 100 years of successful history and has been listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange since 1986.
