Already for the 14th time Datwyler is publishing a sustainability report in accordance with the guidelines of the globally recognized Global Reporting Initiative. To further reduce its environmental footprint and create added value for all stakeholders, the company has enhanced its sustainability strategy and defined twelve focus topics in the environmental, social and governance dimensions. In the 2021 reporting year, Datwyler made further progress in all its focus topics.
We are working on the twelve focus topics in a targeted manner with interdisciplinary and cross-hierarchical project teams. This way, we are anchoring the various aspects of sustainability in our organization. Sustainability targets now also apply to all employees entitled to bonuses.

Responsible use of natural resources
As part of its further developed sustainability strategy, Datwyler is following the Science Based Targets approach and striving for climate neutrality at all its own sites worldwide by 2030 (Scope 1 and 2). In the 2021 reporting year, several Datwyler plants have already switched to electricity from renewable sources. The Indian plant has commissioned its own solar power system. The share of electricity from renewable sources has more than doubled and already amounts to 38%. Accordingly, CO2 emissions per unit of sales have been reduced for the fourth year in a row, by 14.2% compared to 2020. With regard to water, Datwyler has succeeded in reducing consumption by some 30% to 1.5 million m3 over the past six years thanks to various measures implemented. While the volume of waste has increased due to revenue growth, the proportion of recycled material was raised for the fifth year in a row, to currently 74.1%.
Added value and transparency for all stakeholders
With its social focus topics, Datwyler aims to create added value for its customers, its employees and the communities and regions around its manufacturing plants. According to the latest employee survey, 85% of employees are considered genuinely satisfied. To promote diversity, equity and inclusion in the workforce, Datwyler has created a diversity policy and council. To embed sustainability even more firmly in the company, sustainability targets will apply to all employees entitled to bonuses from the 2022 financial year onwards. As a founding member of the Alliance to Zero, Datwyler is committed to healthcare products with net zero CO2 emissions.
