The globally recognized and independent rating agency EcoVadis has awarded Datwyler platinum, the highest standard, for its sustainability performance for the first time. This puts Datwyler in the top 1% of more than 130,000 rated companies from over 180 countries. Since the last assessment, Datwyler has increased its overall score from 71 to 83. The company is now rated as progressive in the three dimensions of "Labor and Human Rights", "Ethics" and "Sustainable Procurement", and even as outstanding in the "Environment" dimension. Datwyler has improved by 10 points in three of these dimensions, and by 20 points in the "Sustainable Procurement" dimension. Datwyler received silver by EcoVadis four times in a row by 2022 and gold for the first time in 2023. Datwyler owes its continuous improvement over the last few years to its clear sustainability strategy and the wide range of measures it has implemented.
Comprehensive GRI sustainability report documents further progress
For the sixteenth time, Datwyler has published a Sustainability Report in accordance with the internationally recognized GRI Standards. This report presents the progress made in the twelve focus topics in accordance with the ESG concept of environment, social and governance. In summary, the progress is attributable to the following measures: better monitoring of site-specific sustainability indicators and their selective review by external parties, certification of the entire company in accordance with ISO 27001 (information security management system), comprehensive wage analysis with reference to the minimum wage and also compared to the living wage, and integration of social and environmental clauses in supplier contracts.
With its sustainability report, Datwyler also meets the new Swiss legal requirements for reporting on non-financial matters, such as environmental issues or respect for human rights.
Human rights due diligence anchored in a binding guideline
By joining the UN Global Compact in 2009, Datwyler committed itself to the ten principles in the areas of human rights, labor standards, environmental protection and anti-corruption and has communicated its progress ever since. Datwyler has updated its sustainability strategy and is now placing an even greater emphasis on human rights with the new focus topic “Human rights and equal opportunities” in order to meet market trends and new regulatory requirements.
The company developed a special Human Rights Policy in 2023 to further formalize and specify its commitment. This was approved by the Board of Directors and the Executive Management and places obligations on all Datwyler employees (more than 8'000 worldwide), as well as all its partners along the entire value chain.
