Datwyler has received validation of its short-term, Group-wide greenhouse gas reduction targets by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
Datwyler is a new member of the Circular Rubber Platform, through which it is actively committing to a more sustainable circular economy in the elastomer industry.
Datwyler has been partnering with the non-governmental organization Planet Water for several years to improve access to clean drinking water in Maharashtra, India.

Partnership with Planet Water
Datwyler’s engagement for clean drinking water
The partnership with Planet Water has already began in 2019. To date, Datwyler has supported a total of 37 AquaTowers, providing drinking water for some 67’000 people (status as of 1 April 2023).

Datwyler has more than 19,000 m2 of photovoltaic panels spread across six plants worldwide. This enables the company to produce around 4,400 MWh of electricity annually for its own consumption.

Sustainability strategy
Our seven Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) focus topics for further development
To realize our sustainability vision of operating successfully today while creating value for all stakeholders in the long-term, Datwyler has established a comprehensive ESG strategy. This strategy prioritizes sustainability topics through a structured materiality process and translates material topics into measurable targets that guide our actions.
Datwyler carried out a comprehensive double materiality assessment (DMA) at the end of 2024, following the framework provided by the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), to support compliance with the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). Seven out of the ten ESRS topics have been identified as material to Datwyler.

Reduce footprint
We are aware of the environmental footprint of our activities and those for which we are indirectly responsible, and we seek to avoid, minimize, and mitigate the negative impacts on the environment. To guide this journey, we have committed to the Science Based Targets initiative and received validation of our near-term, group-wide greenhouse gas reduction targets in December 2025. While improving energy efficiency and sourcing renewable energy is key to reducing emissions in our own operations, supplier engagement is central to reduce our scope 3 emissions. Other environmental initiatives focus on improving water efficiency and the responsible use of resources through waste-reduction innovations and integrating eco-design into our product development.

We are convinced and determined
We consistently disclose our ESG performance against leading and internationally recognized frameworks and published a sustainability report in accordance with GRI and the ten principles of the UN Global Compact since 2009. Global rating agencies such as EcoVadis, Sustainalytics, and MSCI have recognized our sustainability performance with good ratings.
