Planet Water Impact Report 2023

Datwyler's continuous commitment to clean drinking water

News | January 18, 2024

For five years, Datwyler has been working with the non-governmental organization Planet Water to improve access to clean drinking water in the Indian state of Maharashtra. The residents of the region where Datwyler’s Indian Healthcare Solutions plant is located do have access to groundwater. However, its quality is often impaired by bacteriological contamination. This situation puts a strain on the health and livelihood of the population, with children in particular suffering as a result.

To meet the demand for clean water, Datwyler financed 13 AquaTower systems in Maharashtra last year. In addition, the construction was supported by employees of the Indian Datwyler plant. They were all installed at schools, but provide clean, safe drinking water for the entire community.

The new AquaTowers cover the needs of up to 23,400 people in total and the project also includes hand-washing stations, Planet Water’s hygiene education program and an AquaSan surface disinfection system.

We lack the resources to have a water filtration system in school and this is causing health and academic performance problems. Thankfully, we have an AquaTower now from Datwyler that will be a steady source of pure drinking water to our children and the whole community.
